Awakened Heart

A Pilgrimage Home to the Unbound Essence of You

Sacred Plant Medicine | Yoga | Somatic Embodiment

November 29th - December 6th | Sacred Valley, Peru

This retreat has been a decade in the making, a birthing that has been nurtured by years of studying with my teachers throughout the sacred lands of Peru.

The magic awaits…

At the core of your being, you are a luminous pillar of unconditional love and light. The nature of the heart is that it holds space for all. The ancient rsi-s, sages, and shamans remind us that residing here is possible.

Over the course of your lifetime, a protective residue accumulates from the build-up of samskara-s, engrained patterns, habits and tendencies stored in the psyche, that influence your actions, thoughts, beliefs, emotional responses, decisions, and relationships (with self and others). They contribute to the unconsciousness navigation through life. And, in turn, a separation emerges that disrupts the natural, harmonious state of being.

Retreat supports the process of unfolding through the settling of the dust that resides on the window pane of your soul, so you can dwell in the profound beauty of your own infinite wisdom.

The Sacred Valley was where I first experienced glimpses into the truth of who I am. It’s the place that allowed me to reclaim sovereignty over my own life. It’s where my journey with both Yoga and Shamanism unfolded, and shaped the trajectory of my path moving forward. And each year, I return to deepen.

Awakened Heart is an offering to soften, open and expand into the vastness of who you are through the exploration of shamanic rituals & ceremonies, plant wisdom & Earth medicine with the support of Yoga, Meditation and Somatic Embodiment practices.

This is more than a retreat. It is an initiation for those who feel the call to go into the depth of their inner terrain supported by the plant ally Washuma.

This retreat isn’t about healing, but lovingly guides you towards a remembrance and connection with the unbound essence of you. It’s a journey of coming home…

When the heart opens, the mind takes a seat in consciousness, and glimpses of your true nature can be seen and witnessed.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

I’m calling in those who feel aligned to walk this journey with me alongside my dear sister, Krysten.

In Deep Love & Gratitude…

For the Quechua people, Rikch'ay Sonqo, a phrase that translates to “Awakened Heart” means a deep, reciprocal connection and right relation with self, one’s community, and the natural world.

This retreat is a call to action - for those seeking a return to simplicity.

To be held by the spirits of the land.

To immerse in the rich, indigenous wisdom that is still being practiced and shared there.

A space to show up as you are.

Meet your Guides.

  • Katie Rinaldi

Yoga Teacher, Yoga Therapist, Soul Doula, Kambo Practitioner, Medicine Woman and Ceremonialist

Forever a student of Life, Katie walks her path with curiosity, ease, and grace. Her deeper purpose emerged not through seeking but through surrender—when she opened her heart to receive the natural unfolding of her dharma. She serves as a bridge between weaving the ancient with the modern to empower others to lead more authentic and intentional lives.

In 2015, after experiencing the grind of corporate America in NYC, she was left feeling burned out, unfulfilled and disconnected. Determined to regain her sovereignty holistically, she immersed herself in many different cultures and ways of living. She became fascinated with studying and integrating many practices and techniques from a variety of traditions, including Shamanic and Indigenous practices as well as Yoga. She brings over 4 years of experience as a facilitator guiding plant and animal medicine ceremonies.

She is deeply devoted to Washuma, one of her greatest teachers and allies on this Earth. Katie is honored to be of service through providing the space and medicine for others to open to their full potential.

She is committed to sharing this work with integrity and dedicated to preservation of the indigenous roots from which she learned.

    In deep love and gratitude…

Getting there…

  • Take a flight to Lima (Jorge Chávez International Airport)

  • Take a domestic flight from Lima to Cusco (Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport - CUZ)

    • SKY, LATAM and JetSmart all have domestic flights

  • Take a taxi from Cusco airport to the collectivo stand in the center of the city and take a collectivo to the Sacred Valley. It will drop you off nearby the center, and you’ll take a taxi to the center from there. This is the cheaper but longer route, and not recommended after a long flight.

  • The other option is to take a taxi directly from the Cusco airport to the center. This is the quicker, but more expensive option. I, as well as the retreat center are happy to help organize for you.

  • If enough people are arriving with the same timeframe, we’ll organize a group shuttle from Cusco to the retreat center.

  • Note: Uber is not established in the Sacred Valley, and it is not recommended to rent a car as all transportation during the retreat will be provided, and it can be challenging to drive throughout the Cusco and Sacred Valley regions.

Travel Requirements:

No visa required. Just a valid passport with at least 6 months from expiration date

Please ensure you have health insurance. It is highly recommended to have travel/cancellation insurance. Feel free to reach out if you’d like any recommendations.

Weather and Altitude:

Peru is located in the Southern Hemisphere, so Peru’s seasons are opposite the United States.

The end of November/early December marks the beginning of the Summer and rainy season in Peru. Mornings and evenings are typically cooler, while the days are generally dry and sunny. There can be rain in the late afternoon/early evenings.

Hacienda Paucartika lies at an elevation of around 9,200 - 9,900 feet. If you are not used to this type of altitude, it can be beneficial to arrive a few days earlier to allow space for acclimation.

Weather can be unpredictable at high altitude, so it’s pack layers, as well as carrying a rain/wind jacket, hat, gloves, and scarf.
